Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story (BBC2, 21:00-22:30) This is our favourite programme title of the week. This dramatisation of Whitehouse’s crusade to clean up British television is especially appropriate in the week before Big Brother returns, which we’re sure she would intensely hate. Say what you will about Whitehouse, she was a fascinating woman, and Julie Walters is rumoured to be great in the role.

Thursday, 29 May Painted Babies: Growing Up (BBC4, 21:00-22:00) It’s not really London-y, but we totally find beauty pageants kind of hypnotically fascinating, especially those aimed at young girls. This documentary is a follow-up to the 1995 documentary featuring two five year old beauty queens, and revisits the girls now that they’re all grown up. We often wonder how beauty pageants affect kids once they’re older, and this seems like a great way to find out.

Our favourite spooky library scene is the beginning of Ghostbusters, and we’re not sure if the Doctor Who team can compete. We’ll give them a shot though.

Sunday, 1 June How TV Changed Britain (Channel 4, 20:00-21:00) First of a six part series looking the impact television has on British culture. Each episode looks at a different theme and highlights a show that changed the nation’s habits. As we (obviously) love television, we’ll be watching to find out how TV changed us.
The Devil Wears Primark (Channel 4, 21:00-20:40) Following the opening of their flagship Oxford Street store, pretty much everyone shops at Primark. This documentary sees Alexa Chung uncovering the secrets behind the budget chain, and finding out how they can sell so many t-shirts for £4. We really hope Primark doesn’t turn out to be ethically suspect. We really enjoy our £4 t-shirts.
Lost (Sky One, 21:00-23:00) It’s the big two hour series finale, and if you have any interest in the island castaways, you’ll want to watch this. It’s rumoured to be explosive and shocking, and we can’t wait. We like that they’re working towards a big finale in 2010, and know where the show is heading. Plus, we find that Sawyer to be dreamy. Sigh. The finale is followed by a special asking the creators the burning questions on every viewer’s mind.
