At the end of August…

beware of spoilers for: the screwtape letters, wide-ranging sargasso sea, on the road, the stranger, the old fetter and the sea, dune and the unsupportable lightness of being, as well as more general discussion of the chronicles of narnia, jane eyre, atlas shrugged, neal cassady, unnatural, the great gatsby, desolation angels, ‘the old man’, austen’s novels and dh lawrence’s writing.maybe i should be concerned about the possibility of getting sued since flagrant plagiarizing? even a casual glance through my entry titles shows myriad examples of my penchant for filching lyrics and other quotations. oh swell, ahem, good writers touch someone for from other writers. great writers steal from them entirely. (at least i have the chagrin to grant that i’m stealing aaron sorkin’s words from the hot air of sam seaborn there.)on the conditional on of writing, since another month is fading into that strange and distant land called the gone and forgotten, i declare it sometime benefit of another book round-up post! woo, and a mighty hoo.first of all can we all take a interest to rejoice in the fact that i honestly have nothing more to imagine about atlas shrugged? nada. zip. zilch. (unless it’s in correspondence to other things, which is positively overwhelmingly and totally different.)forth to books i wish to thrash out at in the long run b for a long time! starting with the screwtape letters (although not really, as you’ll see). let me preface this by pointing out two things: i unqualifiedly adulate the chronicles of narnia, and i beget a deep and fixed qualm of doctrine. add to that the fact that i actually rather enjoyed the screwtape letters and you comprise a situation which appears a little contradictory. i feel like a sort of narnia apologist (in both senses of the word) then, because whilst i can see (and indeed saw as a child too) the christian symbolism and clear holy dispatch which is both implicit and explicit in the series, it does little to dull my inclination in reading the books again and again. i presume it’s partly because lewis’ portrayal of aslan-as-christ represents a very specific (and almost odd) version of ‘muscular’ christianity which doesn’t necessarily call up all of the things which i normally associate with religion/christianity, simply because its somewhat out of the ordinary. mostly but i think that although lewis obviously became a devout christian in later life, he was influenced by his long period of, if not moderately agnosticism, indifference. he treats christian theology as he treats other mythologies (greek and mesopotamian, for example)- something thoroughly of beautiful ideas and images which are ripe for the plundering when creating a fantastic and fantastical the public.i bear extreme more problem with the blatant racism and lack of exact open-mindedness in the books, especially the horse and his small fry and the last battle. the sexism actually isn’t as rife as you’d demand (although a clear eminence is made between male and female roles uniquely in the earlier books), but something that does really aggravate me is the unspecified unexplained dismissal of susan in the last battle. it’s declared that she’s no longer a friend of narnia because she likes nylons and lipstick, and whilst this snarkiness is kind of likable (especially when you’re a solemn six year old) it doesn’t uncommonly appearance of fair to her. susan could be a slightly annoying normal (and she’s been even more castrated in the shield adaptations) but she wasn’t by any means portrayed as a bad person. i think that if lewis wanted to sparing the number of these ‘friends’ down to the magical number seven he could induce at least had the decency to include a scene in which susan rejected narnia more readily than just shoehorning the point in. peradventure she also ought to have been given a probability to make restitution for herself too, after all edmund and eustace are both given that break and their crimes seem worse than developing a taste for make-up (although that certa

Andrea Mitchell Disses Palin, Only “Stupid” Hillary Supporters Will Vote for Palin

sometimes i feel bad for andrea mitchell, after all she is so homely that she had to affiliate alan greenspan, a grandfather substitute. but that doesn’t be blind to her total lack of impartiality. its not even that her analysis is skewed, she acts like an attack dog for the obama drive. adore today’s get together with the press for instance where she said only the uneducated hillary clinton supporters would consider voting for sarah palin:nbc’s andrea mitchell: only hillary’s uneducated voters will vote for sarah palin by warner todd huston

Tom Brokaw’s Meet the Press this week was as prosaic as ever, but for one little line uttered by the increasingly partisan Andrea Mitchell. In a discussion about the McCain VP pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, guest Doris Kerns Goodwin, plagiarist/historian, said that the choice of Palin is a “very strange choice,” showing how little she bothered to even think about the facts. But the most outrageous analysis came from Mitchell who said that only uneducated, female voters will be drawn to Sarah Palin, not those smart, college educated ones.

At about 5:57 into this clip Andrea Mitchell was brought onto Meet the Press with Goodwin, David Gregory and host Tom Brokaw to tell us all that Sarah Palin will only appeal to uneducated women, not educated ones

After Brokaw asked Mitchell what this Palin pick means for Hillary voters, we find that Mitchell took the occasion to attack instead of answer the question with serious analysis.

Transcript:(My emphasis)

Brokaw: …There are other Republicans who are saying, listen we’ll be able to pull those Hillary Clinton voters who are not happy the way Obama treated her across the line. What are the chances of that Andrea?

Jerry lewis telethon

Mitchel: Well, they think now that they have a story. They have a story of a working mom, she is a colorful character, an Annie Oakley… you know, Annie get your gun. They love her story, but when she tried to talk about Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania, in western Pennsylvania, yesterday at a rally with conservative Republican voters, Hillary Clinton was booed. So, she can use the Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro analogy if she wants to in interviews, she cannot use that at Republican rallies.

She is not appealing to the same women who were really voting or supporting Hillary Clinton on ideological issues but they think that they can peel off some of these working class women, not college educated, who, the blue collar women who were voting for Hillary Clinton and may be more conservative on social causes.

So, only the stupid, uneducated, working class ninnies will be somehow fooled into voting for the McCain/Palin ticket, Andrea? Them thar smart, educated, upper class women are too smart for that? Is that what we are saying here, Andrea?

But, notice how Mitchell didn’t just answer Brokaw’s question but did her best to gig at the GOP for their “booing” of Hillary Clinton? Brokaw asked about Clinton voters crossing the aisle to vote McCain because of his VP pick, he did NOT ask anything about how traditional conservative voters react to mention of Hillary Clinton’s name at rallies. Further, no one should expect conservatives to have any different reaction to Clinton now that she is a loser than they’ve ever had. So, Mitchell’s attempt to make Republicans look mean because they booed Clinton’s name was gratuitous needling on her part. Of course conservatives are going to boo Hillary, but, Andrea, THAT wasn’t the subject under discussion!

So, on top of calling any women who might vote for McCain because of the addition of Sarah Palin to the ticket uneducated, Mitchell needlessly strayed off topic to search for some way to make Republicans look mean.

Yep, that’s the partisan hack Mitchell we have become so used to!

Summary: Tough times create opportunities. One area any company can always improve in is their Marketing – “The Market never stays the same” is our motto. When times get tough, the tough go Marketing. What is your company doing to leverage opportunities in tough times? We’d love to hear your great ideas. If you are not doing much, then time to get racing. Hope you like this article. A Marketer should be “On Mission, On Assignment, and in the Zone!” when it comes to Marketing your company.

I make calls all over the country championing unique opportunities from movie projects, to technology utilization, oil exploration opportunities (emerging), radio and television, vacation rentals, expos, professional services, real estate, and more. I understand that many companies are going through a little hurt. I talked to an agency executive who buys media for Southwest Airlines this week and the lady explained to me that these days “I am asking for more, give me more.”

Most companies are now looking for “even more BOOM for their buck” and that comes with a totally integrated and leveraged Marketing approach. Fortunately, my team has been on what I consider the “front lines” of “integrated and converged” media and Marketing. We have been experimenting with mixing radio, TV, web, networking, PR and news, print, search, strategic alliance development, promotion strategy, photography, music (yeah, you can market your company through music), product placement in film and documentaries, and more. So, these are exciting times for companies who have a little imagination and a sense of exploration and venture and yes, even GUTS!

These days I find my time, thinking strategically about the value of each client to the portfolio of our long-term Marketing objectives (we are not looking for just any client). My thoughts are, “Will this company/client add to our brand value and lead us to the success we are working hard to achieve for them and us?” That simple focus can help any company to save money on their overall Marketing budget. There is a theory in Marketing called “co-branding”. If you align yourself with a leading brand, then you are associated with that brand as well and that can save you millions of dollars in the long run. It is a great strategy, try it sometime.

As a Marketer, I focus on the brand essence of what I am trying to convey in the marketplace - brand attributes like trust, smart, cutting-edge, innovative, focused, courage, consistency, variety, strength, audacity, fresh and fearless, etc. We don’t care what people say as much as what they respond to.

We just picked up, “Seven”, currently the fastest motorcycle in the world at 350.884 mph. The record was broken by Denis Manning of BUB Racing, Inc. (California) with champion driver Chris Carr. For those who have been reading my blog, you may recall my interview with Denis that I recorded on YouTube, last year (search YouTube – Denis Manning “Fastest Motorcycle in the World” or search this blog). In fact, we are organizing a totally comprehensive sponsorship package for his would be Marketers and advertisers. For the sake of this article, if you would like to review what we have in mind for “Seven”, I would be happy to e-mail it to you as a “case study” review (it really is cool), just e-mail: info@TeamMarketingDynamics.com

“seven” the fastest motorcycle in the world 350.884 mph

It took BUB Racing, Inc. 31 years to break the record a second time. The team broke their first world record in 1970 at 265.492 mph with Cal Rayburn, driver. The current record hadn’t been broken for 16 years until “Seven” on September 5, 2006. The “Seven” team is working hard to break the record again at 375 mph in September 2008 and 400 mph in Australia in March of 2009. This is an incredible story of engineering, safety, speed, having a dream and doing what others say can’t be done.

In tough times, this machine can catapult the right company nationally and around the world. So, as we are working to attract the right companies, we have called on Fortune 100 corporations (i.e., fuel, global delivery, technology, really fast food, Hollywood production companies who specialize in product placement, T …
